You can really truly see the exact moment each kick is happening and it makes things easy to line up if you get into a stick situation and need to repair a trainwreck fast. It streams to shoutcast built into the software (in traktor I have to use third party software and if you've ever tired to use two applications on one soundcard in windows you know it's a nightmare). It works with pretty much any timecode records too if you want to go that route. It supports HID which is more accurate than timecode and MIDI combined. It consumes fewer resources and lets me focus on the music, which is all I want. None of them have a competitor to vdjscript either which means writing more complex mappings requires you to use something as a middleware. I don't think any of the other options (and I've tried them all, not just the big 2-3) even come close. VDJ isn't proprietary to any hardware, isn't bloated with crap I don't need, and has hands down the best library filtering and management system out there. Serato is pretty decent but I can't justify a $400 soundcard when I already have a perfectly working one right now. I know this isn't the popular opinion but I really don't need a thousand ways to chop and FX my music to death so half of traktor's appeal is gone. In my opinion, it's just better software. My question for Virtual DJ users is this: what made you choose Virtual DJ over 'the big kings' Traktor and Serato? Did you just buy it because you'd used the free version before 'going pro' and didn't want to learn new software, or was there another reason?
